Amid the leadership crisis rocking the Lagos State House of Assembly, lawmakers yesterday passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, Princess Mojisola Meranda, to continue to steer the affairs of the House.

The member representing Oshodi/Isolo 2, Oladipo Ajomale, who moved the motion, said that the Speaker has been elected by the lawmakers and that they are confident that she is capable of leading the House.

The motion was seconded by Aro Moshood after which the remaining 34 lawmakers, afterwards, passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.

It was earlier reported how operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS, and Nigeria Police Force took over the Assembly complex.

The operatives took over the Assembly complex at Alausa, Ikeja, to ensure adequate security during the plenary.

After the vote of confidence, the House adjourned sitting till further notice.
