As part of the oversight functions of Imo state apex legislative house, the Speaker of the 10th house of the state assembly, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe has expressed immense happiness over the state government’s commencement of massive reconstruction works on the popular Orlu-Mgbe-Akokwa-Uga road in the Orlu senatorial district of the state.
In a press statement issued to news men via his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Uwa, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe observed that Governor Hope Uzodimma’s resolve to tackle this very important road abandoned by his predecessors over the years, is a milestone that has abundantly brought joy, renewed hope and confidence to people of Orlu zone and entire Imo motorists and commuters.
According to Chike Olemgbe, the Imo state Chief Executive, Hope Uzodimma actually put on the right thinking cap when he resolved to go into this project at this point in time as the state would soon, witness another yuletide with influx of Xmas returnees and tourists.
” The wisdom in tackling this road that entertains heavy traffic at this point in time, hinges on three factors namely, the dry season is around the corner; the yuletide is fast approaching and people living along and around communities and local government areas connected to the road had suffered untold hardship. So, the house of assembly is happy that work has begun in ernest on this road that connects Imo state to neighbouring Anambra state. I therefore, doff my cap for this governor that has given Imo state cause to smile in terms of good roads, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON”, Speaker Chike Olemgbe stated.
In a related development, Speaker Chike Olemgbe has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma and the state ministry of works for making frantic efforts to combat the Azaraegbelu erosion along the Owerri-Umuahia road in Owerri North local government area.
Rt Hon Olemgbe while applauding the efforts of government for leaving no stone unturned in efforts to complete the Owerri-Umuahia road construction, lamented that the erosion problem at Azaraegbelu has been a setback to the ongoing project.
