Newly appointed commander of Imo State Command of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs), Hon Chuks Okwaraejiaku has assured the state government and the people that he would leave no stone unturned in efforts to ensure the efficiency and worthiness of vehicles operating on roads in the state.

Hon Okwaraejiaku who gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Owerri, lamented that a good number of vehicles operating in the state are either in bad condition or do not have valid particulars (documents) as stipulated by traffic rules and regulations.

He pointed out that many vehicles are in various stages of decay and hazardous to both vehicle owners and commuters.

“I want to make it clear here that more than 75 percent of the vehicles operating in this state are in terrible condition, resulting in incessant road mishaps, occasioning deaths and endless traffic jams”.

Hon Chuks Okwaraejiaku hinted that the only way to reduce the number of vehicles constituting nuisance on the roads is by way of constant checks on vehicles plying the roads.

According to the VIOs Commander, old vehicles should be certified road worthy before venturing out to the roads and busy areas, to avoid accidents.

Hon Chuks Okwaraejiaku who hails from Ideato South local government area of Imo state applauded Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma over the governor’s massive road construction efforts across the state.
