After a couple of years, she decided to travel to Aba, Abia State in search of a job. This time she was to live with her eldest sister late Margaret Chikere and her husband.
No sooner she arrived Aba than she secured employment in a marketing company as a typewriter. From her salary, she was able to carter for herself as well as assist her sister in providing for the family.
In 1969, Ezinne Josephine got married to late Mr Godwin ifeanyichukwu Onyemara of Umuodom, Ibeme, Autonomous Community. By His grace, their marriage was blessed with seven children: six boys and one girl. She and her husband had exemplary marital relationship, which to date, serves as a reference point to many young couples.
Economically, Mama was hard-working, diligent and resourceful. She traded in vegetables and other foods stuffs at Ahia Ohuru Market in Abia, Abia State in the 70s. Even before her death, she remained a trader at the Cemetery Market in Aba. She used the proceeds from her business to assist her husband in building their home and the training of their children.

She was peace-loving, forgiving and exceptionally philanthropic. Those who knew her and her husband closely will attest to the fact that the couple was hospitality personified. Both could risk hunger to ensure strangers were well-fed. Also, the success of her husband, as one of the pillars that held Ugiri Clan and Ibeme Town Union in Aba, would not have come easy without Mama’s backing and encouragement.
As a good family woman, Mama loved her children dearly. She did everything in her power to ensure they were brought up with the fear of God. She promoted peace, unity and good sense of brotherhood in her husband’s family; village and beyond.
