As the 2027 general elections approach, the National Assistant Secretary of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hassan Muhammadu, has resigned his position and renounced his membership of the party.
The resignation was contained in a letter dated September 9, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Bojude Ward, Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State. A copy of the letter was made available to our correspondent on Sunday.
Hassan Muhammadu, who was also the North-East Zonal Secretary of the party, announced his immediate withdrawal from the party and resignation from all positions he held.
The former national official said the decision was made “with deep reflection.”
He wrote, “It is with deep reflection and esteemed regard that I wish to withdraw my membership from the ADC and also resign my position as the National Assistant Secretary and the Zonal Secretary of the North East Zonal Working Committee of the Party.”
Hassan Muhammadu expressed appreciation to the party and its leaders for the opportunity to serve at both the national and zonal levels.
He stated that copies of his resignation letter had also been forwarded to the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, through the Zonal Chairman, Mr Daniel Modu Bwala, as well as to the Gombe State leadership of the party.
He added that the resignation was copied to the party leader in Gombe and the Zonal Chairman, North-East Zonal Working Committee.
Our correspondent reports that Hassan Muhammadu was also a former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Gombe State.
Some sources disclosed that he is set to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna.
Jamilu Gwamna’s camp said the move is expected to boost the APC’s political structure in Kwami Local Government and across Gombe Central.
They also said he would be a valuable political asset to the APC in the general elections “given his status at both national and zonal levels.
