…Urge youths to shun thuggery violence as election approaches
The Executive Chairman of Onuimo LGA, Dr. Emeka Paul Obi has challenged youths and people of the area to ensure that they comport themselves in a manner that will not portray them in bad light as the 2027 election draws close.
He reminded them of what happened in the immediate past and the price that had to be paid to make Onuimo the safest local government area in Imo State and Nigeria at the present.
Speaking when he received the youth executives of Umuna Ancient Kingdom on courtesy visit at his office in Okwe at the weekend, Dr. Obi expressed joy that the youths reeled out his modest achievements within the Umuna Ancient Kingdom alone and assured of more dividends of democracy.
He urged them to remain peace and law abiding and to continue being supportive of the administration of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who “is unarguably the best governor in Nigeria today.”
“It’s not because of so much money available to him, it’s just that he came as a shining light to put out darkness in Imo State. The roads he is building, the healthcare system he is introducing rank among the best anywhere. Just last week the Robotics and Oncology Center was unveiled and the first scientific surgery was performed.
“What the governor is doing is to make Imo State the preferred destination for those seeking excellent healthcare. Instead of traveling abroad with huge foreign exchange spent, he has made it cheaper for Nigerians by going out of his way to set up the center and brought in first class equipment that match whatever obtains overseas. He is making Imo State proud everyday with his signature projects and many of them are still on the way.
“Governor Uzodimma is a shining light and nobody will see light and decide to walk in darkness. He still needs your support and I believe you will continue to make it available to him.
The council boss reminded the youths that very soon election will hold across the country as the campaign has kicked off and that they should comport themselves properly and in a manner depicting people with understanding by shunning brigandage, violence, thuggery and menace in the area.
“We’re not asking people not to go about their campaign but they should do it with decency and decorum. And whether anybody agrees or not APC has done very well and I know Onuimo people will show their appreciation when the time comes.
He assured the entire Onuimo communities that the council is always out to give the best and that his administration will do everything within it’s powers to ameliorate the pressing needs of the people.
Earlier Youths of Umuna Ancient Kingdom led by Chibuzor Unegbu spoke glowingly of the achievements of Dr. Emeka Paul Obi for the construction of the Ajabo bridge which had made evacuation of farm produce from the hinterland to markets possible as well the completion of the palace of the traditional ruler of the Ancient Kingdom, empowerment of the youths, restoration of peace, electricity projects among others.
They pledged their continued loyalty to the administration at Onuimo and also the state even as they asked for assistance in overcoming a challenge that is presently confronting the community.
