Flagship of Nigeria’s print media, Daily Times will on Thursday, this week  honour the governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma with  its 100th anniversary  Governor of the DECADE AWARD.

The Management of Daily Times explained that the decision was arrived at ” after an extensive nomination and public voting process”

In a letter to the governor, signed by Mr Fidelis Anosike, Group Publisher, Daily Times of Nigeria, and Bolaji Okusaga, Chairman, Times Heroes Award Council, he was informed  that he merited the award mainly because of his services to Nigeria and his contributions to national development.

” The Times Heroes Award Council and other key  stakeholders have confirmed your selection ( for the award) in recognition of your leadership, Public service and contribution to national development “, they wrote.

They disclosed that apart from handing over the award to Uzodimma at the ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, at Thisday Dome in Abuja, there would also be an entry on him in the 700 page Nigerian Grand Book slated for presentation by the group.

According to them, ” the publication will serve as a national commemorative volume and a lasting record of the people, institutions and achievements that have shaped Nigeria’s development ”

While congratulating Uzodimma for winning the award and being among the select few in the book which foreward was written by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,  they said Daily Times was looking forward to receive him on the day of the award.

Reacting to the latest honour on the Governor,  the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, described it as an endorsement for Uzodimma’s progressive and transformative leadership.

He noted that since the governor started his massive infrastructure revolution in the state as well as economic rejuvenation,  many local and international organizations have been united in honouring him for his manifest developmental initiatives.

He said the governor has been focused in the  development of the state as well making visible contributions towards nation building, hence, the awards
