The Lorji Nwe Ekeukwu Women Conference in Aboh Mbaise has honoured the Deputy Leader of the Aboh Mbaise Legislative Council and Councillor representing Lorji Ward, Rt. Hon. Umunnakwe I. Kingsley, with an Award of Honour as “Nwa Ejiejemba.”
The award was presented on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in recognition of his service to the people, leadership and contributions to grassroots development in Lorji Ward and Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.
According to the organisers, the recognition was based on Umunnakwe’s accessibility, responsiveness and involvement in community initiatives. They also cited his support for community programmes, constituent empowerment, and efforts to attract developmental interventions to the ward.
The women described the award as a recognition of his commitment to public service and community development.
The occasion also provided an opportunity for the women to highlight their role in supporting community development, peace and social progress.
Responding to the honour, Umunnakwe thanked the Lorji Nwe Ekeukwu Women Conference for recognising his contributions. He said the award would encourage him to remain committed to serving his constituents and working with community stakeholders.
He also expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, and the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Iheukwumere Henry Alaribe, for their leadership and support.
Umunnakwe further dedicated the award to Chief Hon. Barr. Lady Pat Ekeji Ngozi (Olaedo), APC candidate for the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency. He described her as a candidate committed to effective representation, unity, empowerment and grassroots development.
He subsequently urged the women and other constituents to support candidates committed to development and effective representation in the 2027 general elections, including Olaedo and other APC candidates.
The Deputy Leader also reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with community leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders on initiatives aimed at promoting peace, unity, empowerment, infrastructure and grassroots development in Lorji Ward.
The award ceremony brought together members of the Lorji Nwe Ekeukwu Women Conference home and abroad and other stakeholders to recognise Umunnakwe’s contributions to the community.
