…Vows to redeem past glory of the Ministry
The newly appointed Commissioner in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. (Chief)Longers Anyanwu has charged staff of the Ministry to sit up and work in order to achieve positive goals, not only for the Ministry, but for the entire people of the state.
Chief Longers Anyanwu, gave the charge during his maiden meeting with the management staff of the Ministry in his office at the State Secretariat, Port Harcourt Road.
Anyanwu said he is in the Ministry to redeem the Ministry, which according to him, has lost its glory. He charged Management of the Ministry to work assiduously to yield positive goals as he administration is not ready to dwell on excuses from the staff. He further stressed that would not tolerate any form of Luke-warmness on the part of the staff.
Chief Anyanwu further recalled that he had served in the Ministry over nineteen years ago as Honorable Commissioner, and added that file disappearances and poor documentations are not acceptable under his watch. He admonished both the management and staff to adhere strictly to the civil service rules adding that his administration will not condone indiscipline and insubordination among the staff.
He expressed regret that despite series of programme going on in the Agricultural sector at Abuja, Imo state was not captured, and vowed to change the narrative. He called for proper documentation of ministerial dealings as to keep records for future reference purposes.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Alexander Onwumere assured the Honourable Commissioner of the readiness of staff of the Ministry to work harmoniously with him to achieve positive results for the Ministry and the state as a whole.
Highlight of the meeting was the presentation of briefs from the various Departments by the various Heads.
Also present during the meeting was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Adapalm, Hon. Gideon Meffor.
In a vote of thanks, the Director of Agric Department, Mr. Ebigwe Innocent thanked the Commissioner for finding time to dialogue with his staff and promised that they would work to achieve the set goals of Governor Uzodinma’s administration in the State.
