Troops have rescued Amina Rabe, the wife of the late General Abubakar Rabe, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits.
The rescue operation was carried out on Monday following sustained military offensives targeting criminal hideouts in Matazu Forest and surrounding communities.
Sources familiar with the operation disclosed that troops had launched coordinated assaults on the bandits’ camps from Sunday through the early hours of Monday, leading to the destruction of several hideouts.
According to the sources, the rescue was achieved through a joint operation involving personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force.
The coordinated security offensive reportedly mounted intense pressure on the kidnappers, culminating in the successful rescue of Mrs. Rabe from captivity.
The late General Abubakar Rabe was kidnapped alongside his wife in a recent attack that sparked widespread concern and condemnation.
Security authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the operation as of the time of filing this report.
