The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called on Christians, particularly women, to remain steadfast in prayers for the continued development, peace, and prosperity of Imo State.

The governor made the appeal at the 2026 Ideato Women’s Conference of the Diocese of Ideato, Anglican Communion, held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ndiawa, Arondizuogu, Ideato North LGA.

The governor was represented by the Deputy Governor,  Lady Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru.

On behalf of the Governor, the deputy governor commended the women for the conference theme, “Jehovah Nissi: The Lord Our Banner,” and emphasised the crucial role of mothers in raising responsible children and instilling moral values in society.

She urged parents not to relent in their responsibilities, noting that the family remains the foundation for building a better society.

On the 3R administration, the deputy governor highlighted the significant achievement of Governor Hope Uzodimma in quality road infrastructure, efficient healthcare delivery, digital skills training for youths, victory against insecurity, power supply and other feats in critical sectors of the state’s development.

She encouraged the women to remain unwavering in prayer, stressing that God is the source of victory and protection.

“God is our banner. He is the one who shields and gives us victory. When we have the banner of Christ, we are more than conquerors. Always testify and show gratitude to God Almighty for he alone deserves our glory,” she said.

The deputy governor further urged the women to continue lifting Governor Uzodimma and his family in prayers, as they work to advance the state’s development agenda.

In her address, the Diocesan Women President, Dr. (Mrs) Julie Okeke, commended Governor Uzodimma and the state government for the road revolution in the state, especially, Ideato nation.

She emphasised that leadership is about the people, and called on the women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and make their votes count in the 2027 general election in the country.

The conference brought together Anglican women from across the Diocese of Ideato for spiritual renewal, fellowship and discussions on family and societal development.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were the husband of the deputy governor, Barr. Chukwuma Ekomaru SAN, the Anglican Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Benjamin Okeke; wives of past and present Bishops and members of the clergy.
