Satisfied so far with the performance of Governor Alex Otti, the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, (CYON) Abia State Chapter has expressed its unflinching support, the peace, security, and infrastructure among others, passed a vote of confidence and promised re-electing him in 2027
CYON made this known during their Maiden Conference, comprising Umuahia Diocese, Aba Diocese, Umunneochi, Uturu, and Isuikwuato deanaries at Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia.
Speaking, the Catholic Youth leader, Catechist Igboeche Ernest, said after critically examining the growth Abia has recorded within two year and six months governor Otti has been in power they agreed that they needed to support him and ensures of his reelected.
He lauded the life-touching projects spread across the state, ranging from infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and rural development, noting that it’s a reflection of the tangible dividends of responsible leadership and financial discipline in the State.
According to the Catholic Youth leader, Governor Otti has ushered in a new era of peace, prudence, and people-focused governance, hinting that the Governor’s emphasis on rural transformation, agricultural development, entrepreneurship promotion, and fiscal discipline has not only restored hope in government, but has expanded opportunities for the people of Abia State.
He appealed to the governor to fulfill the few remaining campaign promises to the Catholic youth in the diocese, especially on empowerment.
Lending his voice, the convener and Deputy General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Umuahia Zone, Catechist Ambrose Jonah, said Christians should have the power and will to change situations around them as the salt of the world, and also live an exemplary life using Matthew chapter 5v14 as his reference point.
He tasked Catholic Youths to be focused and shun activities capable of undermining their spiritual growth to help the church grow.
The Environmental expert said a typical example of light includes the emergence of Dr Alex Otti as the governor of Abia state with his numerous achievements ranging from the construction of good roads, provision of conducive environment for education, quality health care, empowerment of citizens across the 17 LGAs which stands as the parameters for more support to the Governor.
He disclosed that, the present administration has taken development to the grassroots, with huge attention to agriculture and sports in the state.
In her speech, Lady Vivian Ogwumike expressed satisfaction with the zeal and passion of the Catholic Youths to serve the state in their little capacity.
Lending his voice, Amb. John Nwigwe used the occasion to refute claims from the opposition that the Governor is underperforming, and that the group is pleased with the Governor’s politics of inclusivity, which he said has attracted peace and tranquility to Abia State.
Declaring the forum’s interest to support the Governor to remain in office still 2027, Amb Nwigwe noted that Abia state is witnessing a refreshing season of responsible leadership and economic renewal under Dr Alex Otti’s watch.
