The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, on affirmed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s dedication to maintaining the utmost levels of transparency and fairness throughout all stages of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, including the periods before, during, and after the election.

Omoseyindemi urged political parties within the state to “strictly comply with the rules of engagement, especially regarding the conduct of their primaries, the submission of candidates, and their campaigns in alignment with the Electoral Act and the Commission’s guidelines.”

The REC made this statement in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, during a meeting with political parties, where he formally notified them of the upcoming Ekiti State 2026 governorship election.

He indicated that this action was in accordance with the Electoral Act, which requires INEC to issue a Notice of Election no later than 360 days prior to the scheduled election date.
