Ebonyi State police command has arrested a man, Ezeoke Chidera for killing his 60-year-old neighbour, Mrs. Rose Awoke.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in a statement released yesterday.
He said the incident occurred at Egugho village, Ezzagu community, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state, on Monday.
He noted that the suspect attacked the deceased with a shovel and hit her several times when they had an issue which led to her death.
“Officers of the command were able to apprehend the suspect; the command is currently investigating to understand the motive of the brazen attack.
“On 02/06/2025 at about 0600hrs, we received a report that one Ezeoke Chidera, who lives in the same compound with Mrs. Awoke Rose, aged about 60 years, attacked her by hitting her several times with a shovel and abandoned her in a pool of her blood, the statement read.
On Tuesday May 29, 2025, it was reported that a 40-year-old man, Mr Emmanuel Nwedu, remanded at a correctional centre following his arraignment at the Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court II, over the alleged murder of his uncle.
After killing his uncle, it was gathered the suspect drank his blood.
The suspect’s plea, who has been facing a count charge of murder, was not taken.
Nwedu had no legal representation in court.
