The Deputy Governor of Imo state, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru has celebrated mothers all over the world for living up to the onerous responsibilities God bestowed on them.
She proudly celebrated the women during the church service marking the mother’s day celebration, at the St. Peters Anglican Church, Umunjam, Mbieri, in Mbaitoli local Government Area of the State, where she also bagged the “Distinguished Daughter award”.
Acknowledging the efforts of mothers in the society, she said: “Mothers bear the pain of child bearing, yet radiate love and care, hold the family together, play the most important role in training the children, supports their husbands with humility and help build the society.
The Deputy Governor, however, called on the mothers to ensure their children are trained with the fear of God.
“We must inculcate moral discipline in our children, in order to gladly reap the dividends of motherhood.
“What gives a mother pride is when she has done her work well and God grants her that grace to appreciate the efforts she made towards her children, that she will be proud to say, these are my children, this is my daughter-in-law and these are my grandchildren.
“Knowing that the attitudes of our children is mostly a reflection of our attitudes as mothers, we must lean on God to guide our children to the right path of life and to ensure we enjoy our godly and unrelenting inputs in our children”, the Deputy Governor said.
She appreciated the people of Umunjam Mbieri for supporting her and the Governor during the election.
“I am very happy that you supported us during the election and have continued to support us, even after the election. May God bless you.
“We shall continue to reap the dividends of democracy in the state. As you can see, the Governor is doing so well, defeated the politically orchestrated insecurity, speedily developing our state, creating wealth, enriching Imolites, building roads, hospitals and other critical infrastructures.
“He is also clearing the pension and gratuity arrears from the previous administrations in the state, promptly paying salaries to civil servants and have instituted free healthcare services for civil servants, pensioners and other Imo citizens. Please, ensure you subscribe to the state’s free health insurance scheme.
“The solar powered lights in Umunjam today, is a tip of the iceberg of many other good things to come. I can never forget Umunjam”, she said.
Also thanking the church for the award given to her, she said: “I am happy you recognised me with such an award. I give glory to God who selected me because he has been my guide. As a daughter, mother and mother-in-law, I will continue to associate with you and other Imo mothers of good will”.
Preaching on the theme, “Mothers, be diligent with your hands; the life and ministry of the biblical Lydia”, The wife of the parish priest, Mrs Joy Nwandikom, urged women to ensure success in their businesses and work places, influence in the families and society while devoting good time for God’s work, noting that God rewards those who trust in him.
She further beckoned on the mothers to be humble, hospitable and caring for both physical and spiritual needs of others and ensure honesty and diligence in service to God and humanity.
