An angry husband, Sholola Kazeem residing in Ring Road community in Owode Egba, Ogun State, has been arrested for attacking his wife, Sholola Mutiat, with hot oil, severely peeling her skin in the process.
Sholola also stabbed the wife on her head with knife before neighbours rescued and rushed her to the hospital in the area.
Ogun police spokesperson, who is a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the assault said it was a gender based violence and that it happened on Saturday.
CSP Odutola said the victim was taken to Ore Ofé Hospital for medical attention while the suspect had been apprehended and currently undergoing investigation.
“The Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba division has promptly intervened in a case involving gender-based violence and assault against a housewife, leading to the arrest of her husband for causing various injuries to her.
“On January 18, 2025, at about 12:20 hrs the divisional police officer received a report from members of the Ring Road community regarding an incident involving Sholola Kazeem, a male resident, and his wife, Sholola Mutiat, who reside at the same address.
“It was reported that Sholola Kazeem, in an uncontrollable anger over a misunderstanding, poured hot oil over his wife’s body and also stabbed her in the head,” she said.
