The Deputy Governor of Imo state, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, yesterday, attended the inauguration of the 7th Mbaitoli Legislative Council, at the local government headquarters, Nwaorieubi.

The Deputy Governor, who was delighted, as she watched the newly elected councilors assume officially the mandate given to them by the people, congratulated them on behalf of the Governor and charged them to look up to the Governor and key into his vision of Shared Prosperity.

“My great people of Mbaitoli, it is my singular honour and privilege to address you as our elected councilors assume today, the sacred mandate we graciously and freely gave to them.

“Our dear Councilors, please, accept the greetings and felicitations from our distinguished and quintessential Governor, my boss, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, who ensured that you emerge through a free and fair electoral process.

“The die is cast and you are now the cynosure of all eyes. Please, do not disappoint our people who have elected you. Remember, it is what we do today that will catapult us to higher responsibilities tomorrow.

“You have a duty to promote the Shared Prosperity Administration in your various communities and wards, ensuring that everyone feels the impact of government.

“Every government survives and succeeds through the collaboration and partnership of all the integral elements. Therefore, you must work as one united entity, cooperating with the executive Chairman and all other relevant stakeholders from the Local Government, in making laws for the good and growth of our people.

“Again, you must look up to our performing Governor, key into his vision of shared prosperity, assist him to reach all and sundry for a better and greater Mbaitoli and Imo state at large. Let the 3-R mantra of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery, to always be your guide as you discharge your duties”, the Deputy Governor said.

She, in the same vein, solicited for a total support for the Councilors and Chairman, from the good people of Mbatoli.

“I wish to also call on our good and great people of Mbaitoli, to please, accord our new Councilors and the Chairman, all the necessary assistance they may need to succeed.

“Let us neither put much pressure on them nor have unfeasible expectations, as they will need time to settle down in office for the business of legislation and governance”.

The Deputy Governor, however, submitted by thanking Ndi Mbaitoli for their unflinching support to Governor Uzodimma’s administration so far and prayed them to continue without relenting a bit, pledging that their support, prayers and solidarity, can never be taken for granted.

The solemn and eventful occasion witnessed the presence of great sons and daughters of Mbaitoli, among whom were; the Apex Leader of Mbaitoli APC, Chief (Barr) Marcellinus Nlemigbo, Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo, the Vice Chairman, Hon.(Mrs) Ijeoma Onyeji, Honourable member representing Mbaitoli in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon. (Engr) Innocent Ikpamezie, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir (Barr) Tobechi Ekomaru, Secretary, Mbaitoli APC, Hon. Emma Nwokoro, Chairman, Mbaitoli Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze George Ekeh and other Royal Highnesses, former Chairmen and Councilors, former Sole Administrators and Government Liaison Officers (GLOS), and other prominent leaders from the local government area.
