Imo state government has released funds to beneficiaries of NG CARES social transfer programme, aimed at providing financial support to vulnerable household in the state. The payment which was made to beneficiaries across the twenty seven local areas of the state is expected to improve the welfare and livelihood of beneficiaries selected from the state social register by enhancing their food security, health and overall wellbeing.
At a pre-payment meeting, the Hon commissioner for finance and the chairman of the NG CARES state cares steering committee, Mr. Chuck Chuckmaker emphasized the need to ensure that the stipends reaches the intended beneficiaries . He directed the delivery platform. Imo State Cash Transfer Unit to conduct a post payment monitoring to guarantee the programmes effectiveness and transparency.
The beneficiaries grouped under four vulnerability profile; Aged, Chronically ill, urban poor and special needs all received their monthly payment of ten thousand naira (N10, 000.) The recipients of the social transfer expressed their gratitude to lmo State Government for the consistent and timely payment, praising the programme‘s transparency and efficiency. ‘We are thankful for this support which has helped us feed our families and meet our basic needs during this challenging times ‘said one of the beneficiaries.
Speaking to beneficiaries while conducting the post payment monitoring, the head of the delivery platform Mr. Joseph Odoemenam thanked the governor for his continuous support to the programme he also advised beneficiaries to ensure that the stipends serve its purpose and makes a tangible difference in the lives of the most vulnerable citizens in the state.
