As boisterous activities dotted the landscape of the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Governmentl Headquarters Afor Oru on Thursday, August 15, 2024 it was for no other reason but the Iri Mbaise Cultural Festival, which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Imo State Government, which reiterated its commitment in the promotion of cultures and tradition.

The Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Ansalem Anyanwu, emphasized that the 3R Government would continue to adhere to those Policies and Programs that would promote the Culture and Tradition of the State.

Governor Uzodimma disclosed that his Administration has demonstrated love and affection to the people of Mbaise as evident in Appointment of their sons and daughters into positions of Authority and called on the people to continue supporting his Government.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Occasion, Dr. Divine Okwudiri Nwandu emphasized the need for Traditional Rulers to continue to promote Peace and ensure that Festivals such as the Iri Ji are not politicized.

Also speaking, the SA to the Governor on Media, Mr. Oguwike Nwachukwu commended the people of the Area for upholding their Culture annually.

On his part, the Sole Administrator of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, Chief Larry Chikwe explained that the Festival, which started in 1955 heralds abundant harvest for the people from their Farms.

Other people who spoke at the ceremony were; Ezeji Ikechi Eze, Ezeji Uzoaro, Ezeji Mark Orji, Dr. Chidi One, and a woman Leader in the Area Mrs. Maria Uzoaro who also thanked God for life and Abundance.
