No wonder the interests for teaching jobs in Imo have continued to be on the rise, inspite of the fact that there are other sectors applicants should be eyeing for possible openings.

Against this backdrop, the Imo State Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary Schools), Professor Johncliff Nwadike, disclosed that teachers in the State are paid their salaries and promoted regularly.

Nwadike attributed the development to the Imo Governor, Hope Uzodimma’s love for education and passion towards ensuring the State continues to excel in the education sector, for the interests of Imo children and for development.

“Imo teachers now get double promotions and their gratuities as and when due. Supervision, monitoring, discipline and engaging the students positively are necessary in school system. Our ministry is a busy one”, he said.

The Education Commissioner who disclosed this while fielding questions from the media, in Owerri, also said the State government has perfected plan to build Technical Schools in each of the local government Areas of the State, in order to, according to him, enhance skills among the students.

Nwadike further said, that the names of shortlisted applicants for the Primary schools teaching jobs are going to be published soon: Immediately, he noted, Governor Uzodimma finalizes going through and names are released, it would be followed by employment of over Five Thousand (5,000) Secondary School teachers.

He frowned at the deplorable state of schools’ buildings in the rural areas of the State and however blamed communities for abandoning their responsibilities for the government to do.

If the roof is blown off, they wait for government to come and fix it, a window gets removed, they want government to assist, school gate gets broken, they start crying out for help. There are little ones they can do and government can now come in,” he said.
