The Peter Obi Media Reach, POMR, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for, according to them, harkening to Peter Obis call on wealthy Nigerians to join him in ensuring the provision of boreholes for the downtrodden across the country.
It was reported that Obi had embarked on borehole projects, especially in some communities in northern part of the country which are experiencing acute water shortage.
At the special anniversary of the death of his mother, Alhaji Abibatu Mogaji, in Abuja at the weekend, the President announced a plan to construct 400 boreholes across the country, as part of a charity initiative.
The POMR, in a statement signed by Dr Yunusa Tanko, commended the President for this spirit of charity as its in line with our principals desire to attend to the poor in our midst.
The group further advised that this new line of thinking from the President should be reflected in the government projects which, according to it, are not addressing the yearnings of the poor.
“It remains shameful that in a nation where millions have no access to clean drinking water, millions of children are out of school and have no access to decent healthcare with millions of youths out of jobs, yet the government is placing priority on bogus projects like coastal highway, mansions, flyovers and buying of jets etc as a priority. The Presidents new spirit of charity if it continues will help in pulling many Nigerians out of poverty if its diversified”
