..As Okolieogwo hails APC’s unity
By Onyinyechi Nwankwo
Imo State Commissioner for Information ,Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Oru North political bloc to ensure that all candidates contesting under the Party’s banner, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Hope Uzodimma, emerge victorious.
He said this could be easily achieved through unity, stronger commitment to APC, and unyielding loyalty to the party’s leadership.
Emelumba, who is also the apex leader of the bloc, gave the charge during a meeting of the “27-Man Booth Army,” a grassroots mobilisation structure designed to bring together 27 representatives from each polling booth across Oru North, held at his country home in Ubulu at the weekend.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation for their turnout and urged them to remain steadfast in the APC, and assured them of the party’s total victory in 2027.
He urged the people to support President Bola Tinubu, Governor Hope Uzodimma and all other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the party would retain its dominance at both the national and state levels.
“Vote for APC, vote for Tinubu, vote for Hope Uzodimma and all other APC candidates. It will benefit us in the long run,” Emelumba declared.
Emelumba reaffirmed his confidence in Uzodimma’s political leadership, recalling that the governor had never misled him since they became acquainted politically.
According to him, the governor possesses exceptional political foresight and divine guidance, strengthening his conviction that the APC would prevail in the forthcoming elections.
The commissioner urged the Oru North bloc to approach the contest with unity and strategic determination, stressing that politics is a competition that requires collective action rather than sentiment.
Expressing confidence that Governor Uzodimma loves him and his people, Emelumba assured the gathering that he would appeal to the governor to award and commence rehabilitation of the dilapidated road linking Nempi, Ubulu and Amaofuo during the dry season.
Recalling how an unnamed individual once boasted in his presence that he could win an election without the votes of Oru North, Emelumba noted that such a possibility might have existed when the bloc was divided but maintained that its renewed unity has changed the political equation.
He warned that anyone who tries to underestimate the bloc’s electoral strength would do so at his own peril.
Emelumba challenged the representatives to mobilise their communities and surpass the electoral performance of the Oru West political bloc, adding that the 27 representatives from each ward should bring two or three additional persons to the next planned meeting in December for a Christmas celebration with party faithful.
He promised that the number of people mobilised would be reflected in the benefits accruing to them at the gathering.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to Governor Uzodimma on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adm. Willie T. C. Okolieogwo described the gathering as a historic step towards political unity in Oru North.
Okolieogwo explained that Oru West LGA comprised two major political blocs, Oru West and Oru North, with the latter consisting of Nempi-Eleh, Ubulu, Ibiasoegbe, AjiiAmaofuo wards.
He said the meeting marked the first time APC members across the five wards had collectively demonstrated a commitment to recognising their shared identity and harmonising their interests to execute political plans together.
The former Oru West council chairman reminded members that Emelumba, popularly known as “Agbarusia Ngene,” is their apex leader and urged them to remain loyal to his leadership.
He stressed that members must follow the commissioner’s directives in preparing for the 2027 elections, particularly in voter mobilisation and delivering electoral results for APC candidates.
Okolieogwo added that similar meetings would be held periodically to sustain unity, strengthen coordination, and advance the bloc’s political interests.
Meanwhile, an indigene of Amaofuo Ward, Ichie Theadeus Mgbeadichie, has appealed to Governor Uzodimma to approve the rehabilitation of the dilapidated road in their political bloc.
While commending the governor’s developmental efforts and describing him as a worthy son of Oru Nation, Mgbeadichie lamented that the deplorable state of the road had subjected residents to hardship and restricted access to important locations.
Mgbeadichie pledged the bloc’s support for Tinubu, Uzodimma, Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu and Barr. Emeka Agbor.
