- How Gov emerged as Man of the Year 2025 – Emelumba
In a rare affirmation of his transparent and transformative leadership, two Nigeria based newspapers and a foreign magazine have voted the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Governor of the year of their respective publications for 2025.
Leadership Newspapers, New Telegraph, and London-based Triangle International Magazine explained that they nominated Uzodimma as Governor of the Year for the restoration of critical infrastructure, digital economy and skills development as well as transparent leadership.
Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba who announced the cheering news in Owerri said it was a pleasant coincidence that three reputable media houses chose Uzodimma as their Governor of the Year for 2025.
Emelumba, who disclosed that the awards were totally unsolicited, noted that it was unprecedented that three media houses would choose the same governor as their man of the year at the same time.
Emelumba however observed that after a careful study of their reasons for the nominations, it became obvious that they carefully carried out their research which yielded the same result that Uzodimma has indeed provided a transformative and transparent leadership with massive critical infrastructure and human capital development to show for it.
According to him, the letter from the management of New Telegraph was explicit on why Uzodimma was chosen as man of the year.
It read, “We have carefully monitored your diligent implementation of your broad based developmental projects since your assumption of office since 2020. We have followed your giant strides in infrastructure, aviation development, workers’ welfare, and numerous other fields of human endeavour. But we are mostly thrilled by your emphatic focus on youths and workers of the state in the areas of digital economy and skills development.”
The Newspaper thus nominated Uzodimma as the GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR ON DIGITAL ECONOMY AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT.
On the other hand, according to Emelumba, the Triangle International Magazine nominated Uzodimma as the recipient of the 2026 FACE OF AFRICA LEADERSHIP FOR GOVERNANCE EXCELLENCE.
Its own letter read, “Your selection as Governor of the Year is founded on your administration’s consistent demonstration of exemplary leadership, strategic foresight and measurable progress across Imo State. Your unwavering commitment to restoring critical infrastructure, especially in road construction, healthcare delivery, and power supply.”
The Commissioner said both assessments aligned with that of Leadership Newspapers, which also acknowledged the giant strides of the governor in the critical areas of infrastructure and human capital development.
He said their positive independent investigation and assessment of Uzodimma’s administration has made the awards credible and deserving. He therefore expressed profound gratitude to the management and Board of Editors of the three media houses for the nominations.
