A stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oladimeji Fabiyi, has described the party’s zoning of the presidential ticket to the southern part of the country as a grave error and deliberate mischief.

Fabiyi made this statement yesterday while responding to questions in an interview on The Morning Brief, a programme on Channels Television.

“As a member of the PDP for quite a long time, who truly understood the trajectory of PDP, I think what PDP did on this zoning thing was a grave error, and it was deliberate mischief.

“And I say this with some sense of responsibility, because I understand the trajectory of this party very well, and in the next weeks, months, we’ll see what will play out as a result of this decision. It will really destabilize the party, to bury the party.

“In the history of PDP, we knew how zoning arrangements had already been managed. Zoning has never been a problem of the PDP. It has never been, except now that we have these few individuals, these few leaders, who believe, because they want to satisfy their selfish interest, [they] made zoning agitation an issue. As far as I know in the PDP, zoning has never been an issue,” he said.
